Learn about the different mediums we use in our art!

  • A fast-drying water-based paint. Acrylic paint is versatile and can be used in a range of consistencies. This paint dries resistant to water and permanently. Acrylic paint is able to adhere to many surfaces and is fairly easy to work with.

  • This is a naturally occuring, soft, black form of the element carbon. This is the primary component to lead pencils. Different grades of graphite achieve different tones. In a set of artist's pencils, you will find they are labeled with the letters B, H, and F. These are the different grades. The ratio between clay and graphite is what makes then either harder (lighter) or softer (darker). More graphite makes for a softer pencil, while more clay makes for a harder pencil.

  • This medium incorporates traditional hand-drawing directly on a tablet with the stylus, as well as digital applications and other graphic design elements.

  • Also known as pyrography, this style of art uses a heated tool to strategicly burn marks and designs upon wood.

  • This is a three-dimensional style of art, using clay or other elements. By manipulating the element being used to turn it into a representative or abstract form. Sometimes this is achieved by adding elements, such as when using clay. Other time this is achieved by taking away elements, such as carving stone or wood.
